The Waco Siege began on February 28, 1993, when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) attempted to execute a search warrant at the Mount Carmel Center, the compound where the Branch Davidians lived. The ATF suspected that the group was stockpiling illegal weapons. However, the raid quickly turned into a violent shootout, resulting in the deaths of four ATF agents and six Branch Davidians.

Following the failed raid, a 51-day standoff ensued between the Branch Davidians and federal authorities, including the FBI. During this time, David Koresh became the public face of the cult and garnered significant media attention. He used the opportunity to spread his religious teachings and maintain control over his followers.

The siege came to a tragic end on April 19, 1993, when the FBI launched a tear gas assault on the compound. A fire broke out, engulfing the Mount Carmel Center in flames. In total, 76 Branch Davidians, including David Koresh, died in the fire, with only a few survivors.
