Allan Stewart Konisburg is better known by his pen name, E.L. Konigsburg. E.L. Konigsburg was an American author and illustrator, best known for her award-winning children's books. She was born in New York City in 1930 and began her career as a teacher before turning to writing full-time.

One of Konigsburg's most famous works is "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler," which won the Newbery Medal in 1968. The book tells the story of two siblings who run away from home and live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is considered a classic of children's literature and has been adapted into a film and a Broadway play.

In addition to "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler," Konigsburg wrote many other popular books, including "The View from Saturday," which won the Newbery Medal in 1997, and "Jennifer, Hecate, Macbeth, William McKinley, and Me, Elizabeth," which won the Newbery Honor in 1968.
