Boris Becker is arguably the most famous German tennis player of all time. Born on November 22, 1967, in Leimen, West Germany, Becker burst onto the scene in the mid-1980s as a teenager with his powerful serve and aggressive playing style. He won his first Wimbledon title in 1985 at the age of just 17, becoming the youngest male Grand Slam singles champion in history. Becker went on to win a total of six Grand Slam singles titles, including three Wimbledon championships in 1985, 1986, and 1989.
Michael Stich, born on October 18, 1968, in Pinneberg, West Germany, was another talented German tennis player who achieved success at Wimbledon. Stich won the Men's Singles title at the All England Club in 1991, defeating Stefan Edberg in the final. Known for his powerful serve and net-rushing style of play, Stich reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 in singles. In addition to his Wimbledon victory, he also won the men's doubles title at the 1992 Wimbledon Championships.
Tommy Haas, born on April 3, 1978, in Hamburg, Germany, is the third German tennis player to have won the Men's Singles title at Wimbledon between 1950 and 2000. Although Haas never won a Grand Slam singles title, he had a successful career and reached a career-high ranking of World No. 2 in singles. Haas' best performance at Wimbledon came in 2009 when he reached the semi-finals before losing to Roger Federer.
