Every human first spent about half an hour as a single-celled zygote. This tiny, microscopic cell is the result of fertilization, when a sperm cell penetrates an egg cell. From this moment, the zygote begins to divide and multiply, eventually forming a complex organism made up of trillions of cells.

During the first stages of development, the zygote goes through a process called cleavage, where it undergoes rapid cell divisions without increasing in size. These divisions create a cluster of cells called a morula, which eventually develops into a blastocyst. The blastocyst is a hollow ball of cells with an inner cell mass that will give rise to the embryo.

After implanting into the uterine wall, the blastocyst undergoes further development, forming three germ layers: ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. These layers will eventually differentiate into all the tissues and organs of the human body. By the end of the first month, the embryo has a beating heart and the beginnings of a brain and spinal cord.

As the embryo continues to grow and develop, it becomes a fetus, capable of movement and exhibiting more complex behaviors. By the end of the first trimester, all major organ systems are in place, and the fetus begins to resemble a tiny human being. Over the next two trimesters, the fetus grows and matures, preparing for life outside the womb.

After about nine months of development, the fetus is ready to be born. The process of childbirth, also known as labor, involves the expulsion of the fetus from the mother's body. This marks the end of the prenatal period and the beginning of the postnatal period, where the newborn will continue to grow and develop outside the womb.

So, every human first spent about half an hour as a single-celled zygote, the starting point of a remarkable journey from a tiny, microscopic cell to a complex and dynamic organism.
