Aden, previously known as the Federation of South Arabia, is a country located at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. This country is strategically positioned along the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea. Aden is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the north, Oman to the northeast, and Yemen to the east and south.

After decades of British rule, Aden gained independence in 1967 and became the capital of the People's Republic of South Yemen. In 1990, South Yemen united with the Yemen Arab Republic, also known as North Yemen, forming the modern-day Republic of Yemen.
