Spain is the country that suffered bomb attacks by the Basque separatist group ETA. ETA, which stands for Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (Basque Country and Freedom), was a terrorist organization that aimed to create an independent Basque state in northern Spain and southwestern France.

ETA carried out numerous bombings and assassinations over the course of several decades, targeting Spanish government officials, police officers, and civilians. The group's attacks caused widespread fear and insecurity in the region, leading to a significant loss of life and damage to property.

One of the deadliest attacks carried out by ETA was the bombing of a supermarket in Barcelona in 1987, which killed 21 people and injured more than 40 others. The group also targeted tourist areas, transportation hubs, and political rallies, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Despite numerous attempts by the Spanish government to crack down on ETA and dismantle its operations, the group continued to carry out attacks until it declared a permanent ceasefire in 2011. The ceasefire was later verified by international observers, marking the end of ETA's violent campaign for independence.
