Who was Henry VIII's third wife?

Henry VIII's third wife was Jane Seymour. She was the daughter of Sir John Seymour, a wealthy landowner and nobleman. Jane Seymour caught the king's eye while she was serving as a lady-in-waiting to his first two wives, Catherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn.

Henry VIII married Jane Seymour on May 30, 1536, just days after the execution of his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Jane Seymour gave birth to Henry's only legitimate male heir, Edward VI, on October 12, 1537. Sadly, Jane Seymour died of postnatal complications just 12 days after giving birth, making her the only one of Henry's wives to be given a queen's funeral.

Despite her short reign as queen, Jane Seymour was highly regarded by Henry VIII and was buried next to him in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Her son, Edward VI, would go on to become king after Henry's death.

Overall, Jane Seymour played a crucial role in the tumultuous reign of Henry VIII and is remembered as the queen who finally gave him the male heir he so desperately desired. Despite her short time as queen, Jane Seymour's impact on English history is significant and her legacy lives on through her son, Edward VI.
