Units of Frequency

Frequency is defined as the number of occurrences of a repeating event per unit of time. Kilohertz represents one thousand cycles per second, while megahertz represents one million cycles per second. These units are used to measure radio frequencies, the bandwidth of signals, and the clock speed of computer processors.

Another unit of frequency that you may come across is gigahertz (GHz). It represents one billion cycles per second and is mainly used in the field of electronics and computer hardware. Gigahertz is commonly used to measure the speed of microprocessors, the frequency of electromagnetic waves, and the bandwidth of digital signals.

In some cases, frequency can also be expressed in terms of revolutions per minute (RPM) or revolutions per second (RPS). These units are commonly used to measure the rotational speed of mechanical systems such as engines, turbines, and motors. For example, the engine speed of a car is often measured in RPM.
