Sid Vicious, born John Simon Ritchie, was the bassist for the punk rock band the Sex Pistols. He gained notoriety for his tumultuous relationship with Nancy Spungeon, which ultimately ended in tragedy when Spungeon was found dead in their New York City hotel room in 1978.
Their relationship was filled with drug abuse and violence, with both Vicious and Spungeon struggling with addiction. Vicious was arrested and charged with Spungeon's murder, but died of a heroin overdose before he could stand trial.
